Coursework preliminary exercise
1) Write a 100 word statement of intent explaining what you are going to make for your preliminary exercise.
I plan on making a front cover and a two-page spread focusing on an influencers new book on positive lifestyle changes. The front cover will contain a large picture at high quality of the influencer with the title for the magazine clearly displayed along with the celebrity. The large picture in the front cover will be a close up of the celebrity and will show no lower than the shoulders. The two-page spread will include one image at a semi-low angle to create the sense that reading the book will help you in the long run and another image will include the celebrity holding the book and promoting it, this image will contain a pack shot.
2) Write an outline for your preliminary exercise on your blog. This needs to include talking points and photo lists. To see how a magazine is presented, and to look at professional examples, check out the following link which gives lot of tips and tricks on how to layout and plan your magazine.
At the bottom of the image of the celebrity I will add a quote along the lines of " This book will do wonders", this will help promote the product even further. I will also leave some blank space for the background colour to contrast with the dark coloured typography of the title and the quote. Around the image there will be overlapping text for design.
3) Casting: Who will be in your magazine?
I will be in the magazine alone alongside the book.
4) Plan your locations: Where you will shoot your preliminary exercise? (You can take photos off-site if you wish to do this for homework - this is what we would strongly recommend). Important note: You CANNOT take any students out of any other lessons OR disturb any other lessons in the school. If you wish to take shots in-school then you will need to shoot with Mr Ray supervising or after school with a Media teacher present.
I plan on taking one shot of myself ( the influencer ) Infront of a tree in a grassy area, I also plan on taking two other shots in my home in front of a white wall/ background for the negative space and to leave a lot of room for the cover lines and other additional text.
