Demographics and Psychographics

  1) What information do media companies use to create a demographic profile of their audience? They use  Age,  Gender,  Education,  Social class,  Race/ethnicity,  Job/profession/earnings,  Home (city/village/countryside) 2) Why are media companies and advertisers increasingly using audience profiling and not just demographics? They use audience profiling and no just demographics because they don't get enough information they also need information like their interests   3) What are the seven different Pychographic groups?  The Aspirer, The Explorer The, Reformer, The Mainstreamer, The Succeeder, The Struggler, The Resigned  4) Write a brief summary of what each Psychographic group is seeking or motivated by. Camera movement and editing.

Camera movements: Crane shot at 1.05 to 1.10. This was used to swoop in and track the movement of the people on jet packs. This allows the audience to feel the motion of the scene and makes the movie more fun to watch as they feel more involved. The handheld shot was at 1.42 to 1.45. This was used to add more realism and tension to the scene. It also allows the scene to be more intense and adds build-up. The handheld keeps the audience on edge as they expect something to happen since the handheld adds tension. The pan shot was at 1.00 to 1.03. This was used to follow the movement of the man while he was running. This allows the audience to feel the movement. This was used to add to the pacing and add to the action.  Editing: A lot of cuts were used between 2.30 to 3.30. This was used to add to the action. Each clip only lasted for around 3 seconds this was to show how intense the scene was. Also, it makes the pacing fast. I couldn't find other editing bits. Camera shots and a...

Blog feedback and Learner response

WWW: You have made an excellent start to GCSE Media – well done! Your fruit bowl is fantastic – you’ve really captured the Autumn palette beautifully.  Your blog is also fully up-to-date which is great to see and you’ve picked out some good aspects in the homework tasks so far. I like the level of detail you’re offering on mise-en-scene – particularly the first two paragraphs. Keep up the good work!     EBI:  The key aspect to work on if we want to aim for the top grades is depth and detail throughout our written work – for example, the third paragraph for mise-en-scene. You also need to be careful you are writing about the meanings being communicated to the audience and not just describing what happens or telling the story (this is denotation rather than connotation).   The other area I would suggest working on is keeping an eye on your written English. Things like capital letters are important in written communication and getting them perfect in yo...

Doctor Who camerawork

Camera shots: The Establishing shot/Wide shot at 0.52 successfully shows us the full room the old lady was in and shows us that we are in the 1960s. This shot was used to give us a perspective of what era we were in, as the furnishing and the candles are not something you would typically see in the 1980s to the 2000s. Also, this shows us the settings the others are in through the computer, with the blue and black colours showing us that it could be some sort of sci-fi show. The close-up shots from 1.10 to 1.20  establish that all the characters seem focused and determined. This emphasises the importance of what is going on, as we see close-ups of all of the characters' facial expressions. This communicates the intensity of the rest of the clip and implies to us that the whole show is going to be intense.   The over-the-shoulder shot at 3.19 portrays that this idea or plan they had is taking place. This shot is impactful on the audience because it shows us that this myste...
